Survivor: Interesting Deleted Scene

Here are two minutes that really should have been in Thursday night’s episode of Survivor.

Coach moaned to Courtney about how he didn’t want to play the game without Tyson or Boston Rob, but Russell had bullied him into it. Courtney played the situation beautifully, suggesting that Jerri and Coach could team up with her and Sandra and vote out one of the others. Coach wanted it to be Russell.

I really think they should have shown audiences this scene. It shows a few things:

  1. People are actually thinking about targeting Russell, despite what the actual episode seemed to portray.
  2. Courtney is craftier than she’s been shown. She does want to stay in the game, and she can make strategic moves. She’s very good at reading people and might deserve more credit than she’s getting.
  3. Why didn’t they go for it? Obviously, it would have worked out better for Coach. Did Jerri not go for it? Did she know Coach was about to be eliminated? Will she regret not going along with the scheme now that her buddy is out?

Check out the deleted scene here.

I see what you mean about Courtney.I've always looked at Survivor as a battle of wits. Everyone on this season has had the opportunity to watch every episode of the first 18 seasons. Everyone should have seen Cook Islands. Why on earth is there this propensity to vote out the 'weak'? (Not that Courtney got voted out but) the point I'm making is who cares about the numbers at the merge? Russell certainly shouldn't. The heroes look united because they've won back2back challenges (4 or 5?). Come the merge it's every all-star for themselves. Russell and JT know this. Parvati too. The others may think they know this as they scramble for new alliances.I think Russell knew the girls would vote Coach off going in. As this deleted scene shows production has a storyline to tell. I also think Russell knows Parvatti is waiting to replace him with Amanda. Wits will win this game. Sandra and Courtney (and Russell) are best placed to destroy the heroes and the (incoming) witches coven of Amanda, Parvati, Candice and Danielle.Because I told you so.

I don't know if there will necessarily be a "witches coven", or to use a less-sexist term, a girls' alliance. I don't know if either Parvati or Amanda would want to go to the end against each other again. Courtney and Sandra could be in a very good position though, to flip and team up with the Heroes. I think J.T. is in a tough position because most of the Heroes distrust him.

I just watched Coach's confessional video and my whole office looked at me like I was crazy because I was laughing so much!

Apologies for the above remark Jill. I was going to write the Heathers but they're not mean girls. So how about the Hot Squad? If I'm right.

    Haha much better!

Don't understand why it is sexist to refer an alliance that will include Parvati as a witches coven. But even Parvati referred to her alliance in Fans vs Favorites as a witches coven, and, the alliance was a coven in regards to way their opponents were almost all blindsided.

  7. Jill Mader says:

It's not, exactly. But it's a little different than when Parvati actually referred to her own alliance that way. I just don't think it's great to automatically refer to any alliance involving women as a witches coven, which is why I'd rather just call it a girls' alliance.
