Yep, it’s basically The View.
I actually don’t mind The View. Yes, some/most of the women on the show are more annoying than Carrot Top on acid. I like to pretend Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a completely separate person from the Elizabeth Filarksi who was a sweet, charming contestant on Survivor: Australia. And don’t even get me started on Whoopi Goldberg’s constant defenses of misbehaving celebs (most recently, Mel Gibson). In fact, the only one I really like is Joy Behar. But to each his/her own, and I think the format of the show works. But do we need a duplicate?
CBS says their show will differ because the ladies will all speak from the perspective of motherhood. First of all, I want to thank the producers for not putting Kate Gosselin on the show. Second, how does that make the show any different from The View? Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Elisabeth and Barbara all have children of varying ages.
That said, the show might actually be good. Holly Robinson Peete annoyed me on Celebrity Apprentice, but she’s outspoken and could bring a lot to the show. I’ve always found Leah Remini to be hilarious in interviews, and Sharon Osbourne is just a quirky, funny, opinionated firecracker. Six women seems like a lot, though – how will anyone get a word in edgewise?
What do you think of the show? Will you check it out? If anything, I think it will provide a nice alternative when you’re home with the flu some day this fall.
