America’s Got Talent: Farewell to the Semi-Finals…

…it’s about time. The semi-finals are finally over on America’s Got Talent and five acts progressed to the finals. I can’t say I was impressed with the results. Obviously, Fighting Gravity deserved to make it through. Jackie Evancho was another deserved shoe-in. But magician Michael Grasso is not my cup of tea at all, so I can’t say I was thrilled to see him move on. And Jeremy VanSchoovhoven? I didn’t see that coming at all. What was so great about this act?
The final acts came down to Studio One Young Beast Society and Alice Tan Ridley. I was surprised that Michael & Ashleigh were knocked out of the run before Studio One, and I was even more surprised when the judges decided to advance the dance troupe instead of the songstress.

Well, we have a top ten. I think there are about four or five acts in the finals that I really like, and the rest are just fat waiting to be trimmed. Who are you rooting for?

I've watched past seasons of America's Got Talent, but they never seemed to drag on as long as this season. Although I never made a point of watching every episode like I have this season. I also never remember there being a youtube or wild card round which made this season seem even longer. I was also surprised that the judges chose Studio One to move on. It almost seemed like they chose them just to add some variety since there are so many singers left in the competition. I'm not that into magicians either, but I much prefer Michael Grasso to Murray. Murray just creeps me out. I don't get Jeremy Van-whatever's act either. I thought he should have been eliminated a few rounds ago. I was disappointed that Piers didn't buzz him when he fell since his rule seemed to be that he would buzz an act if they clearly messed up. Jackie Evancho was good, but I don't see her making it as a Vegas act. Fighting Gravity was my favorite act of the night.Overall, my top two are Fighting Gravity and Michael Grimm. Prince Poppycock would be a close third. I've been reading your blog for awhile and I really enjoy it! I noticed that no one ever seems to comment on AGT so I thought I would throw my thoughts out there.

I agree, the YouTube and wildcard episodes really dragged out the semi-finals, or quarter-finals, or whatever they were. I totally agree about the kid who fell on the bike! That should have been a buzz. Thanks for commenting! I love hearing what other people think of the shows I'm watching.
